1. Remote Monitoring: Keep an Eye Anytime, Anywhere

Advantage:

•   Real-Time Access: WiFi smart home security systems provide real-time monitoring through smartphone apps, enabling homeowners to check in on their property from anywhere with an internet connection.

•   Instant Alerts: Receive instant notifications for triggered events, such as motion detection or unauthorized access, ensuring swift response and peace of mind.

2. Easy Installation and Integration: Seamless Connectivity

Advantage:

•   Wireless Setup: WiFi security systems often feature wireless devices, simplifying installation and eliminating the need for extensive wiring.

•   Smart Home Integration: Many WiFi security systems seamlessly integrate with other smart home devices, creating a unified ecosystem. This includes compatibility with voice assistants, smart locks, and lighting systems.

3. Flexible Camera Placements: Covering Every Angle

Advantage:

•   Strategic Placement: WiFi-enabled cameras can be strategically placed indoors and outdoors to cover key entry points, blind spots, and vulnerable areas.

•   360-Degree Coverage: Pan-and-tilt cameras offer the flexibility to remotely control the camera's orientation, ensuring comprehensive coverage.

4. Motion Sensors and Alarms: Proactive Security Measures

Advantage:

•   Customizable Sensors: WiFi security systems often include motion sensors that can be customized to trigger alarms or notifications based on user-defined parameters.

•   Audible Alarms: Sirens and audible alarms can be integrated into the system to deter intruders and alert neighbors.

5. Cloud Storage: Secure Data Access

Advantage:

•   Cloud-Based Storage: WiFi smart home security systems often offer cloud-based storage for recorded footage, providing secure access to historical data even if the physical device is tampered with.

•   Remote Playback: Users can remotely access and review stored footage through the cloud, enhancing forensic capabilities.

6. Enhanced Privacy Features: Tailored Security Settings

Advantage:

•   Privacy Modes: WiFi security systems allow users to customize privacy settings, such as activating/deactivating cameras or sensors during specific times or when certain individuals are present.

•   Secure Encryption: Advanced encryption protocols ensure that data transmitted between devices and the cloud remains secure, protecting against potential cyber threats.

7. User-Friendly Mobile Apps: Intuitive Control

Advantage:

•   Intuitive Interface: WiFi security systems are typically accompanied by user-friendly mobile apps that provide intuitive control over the entire system.

•   Remote Arm/Disarm: Users can remotely arm or disarm the security system, providing flexibility for homeowners on the go.

As a smart home certified realtor (yes, there is such a designation), I'd encourage prospective buyers and sellers to look at a smart home security system. For sellers, this is a huge sell for prospective buyers. It provides any new or growing family peace knowing the home they're looking to purchase is well protected. On the buyers side, a smart home signifies an updated, adaptable home for newer modern conveniences. Though I say this, not all systems "talk to each other," nor do they integration with one another. In our last home we have had Nest, and in our new home have Ring. I like both, and will say that Ring has been much more user friendly than Nest was. I also like the ability to have battery operated cameras integrated into my networked security system. Ring also has window and door sensors, smart sensors, WiFi enabled outlet adapters, etc. The list goes on. Here is a list of different providers to take a look at: 1) Ring.com

4) ADT Home Security (ADT.com)

7) Brinks Home Security (Brinkshome.com)

8) Wyze Home Monitoring (wyze.com)
